New Balance has finally given us a proper look at the ABZORB 2000, and it’s safe to say this one isn’t here to play it subtle.
ABZORB has always been one of the brand’s signature details, sitting under a bunch of their running inspired classics like the 1906R and 530. But with the ABZORB 2000, they’ve basically taken that cushioning tech and turned it into the whole personality of the shoe. The sole is huge, sculpted, and properly Y2K, like something you would have seen in the early 2000s when runners looked futuristic for no reason at all.

That’s kind of the point. The ABZORB 2000 takes a distinctive feature from that era and makes it the focal point of an all new style. It’s a progressive twist on a New Balance staple, and a new way of looking at visible tech without just doing another retro copy and paste job.
The campaign video, voiced by Design Manager Charlotte Lee, gives a quick look behind the scenes too. She pulled from the archives, leaned into 2000s fashion nostalgia, and even built parts of the design digitally through VR, which feels very on brand for a shoe that looks like it belongs in the future.

“The process of looking back created the foundation of ABZORB,” Lee says, “but this is where we look to the next generation. And this is ABZORB 2000.”
Whether you’re into tech runners or just want something that looks bold on foot, the ABZORB 2000 feels like New Balance pushing the vibe forward instead of just replaying the past.
