Soggy Sucks: SOREL’s Ambler Gets Put Through Its Paces

Soggy Sucks: SOREL’s Ambler Gets Put Through Its Paces

Nobody likes soggy feet. It is one of those small inconveniences capable of ruining your mood, your outfit and basically any plan involving walking.

For our latest campaign with SOREL, we built the story around the Ambler Mule’s waterproof construction and what that means once you actually start moving in it. Shot in Barcelona, Soggy Sucks stars Stella Maya alongside a supporting cast of dancers performing across a set covered in water.

The idea was fairly simple. If the Ambler is designed to keep your feet dry, put it somewhere it has no choice but to prove itself.

Stella leads the campaign with the dancers moving around her, shifting between tight formations and something much looser. The water reacts to every step, becoming part of the choreography and giving the film a slightly chaotic energy while the shoes remain completely unbothered.

There is something satisfying about watching everyone move so freely through a space that should technically be working against them. The performance feels controlled without becoming too polished, and the Ambler is always present without the whole thing turning into one long product demonstration.

Waterproof footwear is usually shown through technical diagrams, moody rain or somebody standing heroically on a rock. Dance gave us a more immediate way to make the same point. No lengthy explanation was needed. Stella and the dancers could simply wear the shoes, move through the water and let them do their job.

Soggy Sucks follows our first Ambler campaign, Same Animal, Different Tracks, which paired dog owners with their dogs to explore the different personalities and routines that make up everyday life. That story showed how naturally the Ambler moves between inside and outside, from the sofa to the street and wherever the dog decides you are going next.

This new chapter takes that same versatility and puts it into a different world. One campaign was built around personality, companionship and daily routines. The other is about movement, performance and dealing with the elements without making a big thing of it.

The Ambler carries the rugged, weather ready attitude associated with SOREL, but puts it into a mule that feels easy enough for every day. It can handle rain and puddles without looking like something you need to save for a hiking trip or snowstorm. Practical, but not in a way that takes over your entire outfit.

The result is less of a traditional footwear campaign and more of a performance built around one very obvious truth. The weather rarely cares what you are wearing, so your shoes should be ready regardless.

Soggy sucks. The Ambler does not.
